Calling all independent film-makers and photographers

WASHINGTON May 8 - Malaysian and other ASEAN independent film-makers and photographers are invited to submit their completed works to the US-ASEAN Film, Video and Photography festival before July 1, 2003.

The winners will receive a cash award of US$1,750 for each category of film or video and US$750 for each category of photography to be awarded at a gala dinner in September in this capital city.

Jasmine Wibisono, founder of Grace Heritage, said here the festival is held for the first time to promote South-East Asian culture to America.

There are three categories for film entries: narratives (fiction), documentary (non-fiction) and experimental. There is no time limit for the submission, but all film/video must be in the VHS (NTSC) or VCD format.

In photography, the entries can be in colour or black and white and the categories include Single Image, Portfolio (collection of seven still images); and photo essays (minimum of five images with story line - journalistic style). All photos must be submitted in print mounted at any size.

Contestants can submit their work along with application forms and non-refundable entry fees to the organisers.
