CHATTERBOX CAST & CREW

DIRECTOR's BIO

Jane Lawalata is the first woman director to come to America and successfully write and direct a feature film that will be distributed world-wide this Fall. That film is "Chatterbox the Movie" to be distributed by Marvista Entertainment, a top LA-based film distributor.

Jane has achieved what no other woman from Southeast Asia has been able to do because of a combination of talent, vision, experience and plain old intestinal fortitude. Where others saw a daunting and formidable task, Jane saw a unique opportunity. As a result, Jane's success has opened the door to many other talented woman from that part of the world and from other countries to try and realize their dream: to become a successful film director in America. She serves as inspiring proof that America remains the land of opportunity for those with the courage, like Jane, to come here and make their dreams come true.

She began her career at the prestigious Jakarta Institute Of Art (Institut Kesenian Jakarta) in 1994 and then in 1997 began an extensive and varied career with top local TV stations RCTI, TRANS TV and KABEL-VISION (Cable TV). After gaining all the necessary experience she could from her work in TV, Jane needed an even greater challenge: to become a movie director. Boldly going where no Indonesian woman film-maker had ever gone before, Jane made the life-changing but difficult decision to leave behind the comforts of her island nation, her established career, move to LA, and attend film school. This proved to be the most important and boldest decision of her life. She graduated from the Producing Program at the New York Film Academy's LA campus and as her thesis project wrote the treatment and script for what would become her triumphant entry into the world of commercial cinema: "Chatterbox the Movie".

As they say, the rest is history. Jane got the script to Chomer Family Films a production company based in Florida owned by John and Lisa Chomer. Their vision of producing family-friendly films coordinated precisely with Jane's vision for "Chatterbox" and the film was made with Jane directing it. A chance meeting with Kenny Feuerman at the AFM (American Film Market) last Fall brought the veteran producer on board as a sales agent. Marvista Entertainment successfully outbid a number of other companies for the US and world-wide rights and "Chatterbox the Movie" will soon be seen on TV, PAY-TV, V.O.D., and DVD all over the world. Jane is now busily prepping "Chatterbox 2" from a script that she wrote and promises that it will be bigger, better, more musical, but still family-friendly, wholesome, and fun. It is a preview of what we can expect from the talented Ms. Lawalata, who's future shows endless promise for her and for many other women from that part of the world who she has inspired by her own unique success.

Brianna Joy Chomer
as Chelsea Ryan

Most young people are clueless about what their future holds but Brianna Joy Chomer was lucky — she always wanted to act. Waiting patiently until she was four, Brianna started out in local commercials but quickly segued to appearances in plays, TV, and recently a major starring role in the feature film “Chatterbox” which is soon-to-be-released world-wide by MarVista Entertainment.

Growing up for Brianna has been a whirl of drama, piano, and voice lessons, while juggling school, family outings, and the fun that all girls just want to have. A supportive family has enabled her to pursue her dream which now finds her living bi-coastally between her Florida home and frequent flights to LA for important TV and Movie auditions.

For a little more insight into her career path we travel back through time to Brianna at age eight playing the lead in the Oz Theater’s production of “The Wizard of Oz”. The next three years where a blur of fourteen more stage productions including “Annie” and “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown”. Rapidly gaining recognition, Brianna signed with IZON and entered the prestigious AMTC competition.

With the encouragement of a team of professionals acknowledging her work, Brianna decided to give Hollywood a try. As luck, and talent, would have it, she was spotted by director Jane Lawalata, to play the lead part of Chelsea Ryan in “Chatterbox’. With distributors in a heated bidding war, Marvista Entertainment won out and the film will debut at this year’s American Film Market and will be released world-wide in 2010.

In Los Angeles, Brianna signed with Morezap Productions, NTA Talent Agency, and Sovereign Talent Group for representation. She was quickly picked for national commercials: Invisalign and Spinmaster. Now she regularly auditions for top casting directors and producers for network TV pilots and feature films. She is also prepping for “Chatter-box 2” to be filmed in Washington, DC in 2010.

Outside of acting, Brianna likes to spend time with her family, including her older brother and fellow actor, Caleb, and her younger sister Mackenzie. She attends Walton Beach High School. She is an active member of her local church and credits God and her family for giving her the chance “to live out her dreams” and allow her “to live and breathe, the craft she loves – Acting”
