  • Sixth Annual US-ASEAN Film Festival.

  • US-ASEAN Short Film Competition.
    Everyone is invited to enter this competition; the only rule is that the film has to be about an aspect of ASEAN. We challenge the filmmakers to be as creative as possible, and to think out of the ordinary.

  • Fifth Annual US-ASEAN Film Festival: United by Contrasts.
    From a village devastated by the 2004 tsunami to the gleaming skyscrapers of Singapore, from rural Viet Nam to chaotic Manila: the films this year emphasize the diversity of the region as expressed by its filmmakers.

2007

  • Fourth Annual US-ASEAN Film Festival: With Love, New Films from Southeast Asia.
    Love is probably one of the most universal subjects. This year’s festival showcases 8 films with love and its permutations. From the subject of polygamy on Indonesian Nia DiNata’s feature to the idyllic comedy of Hello Yasothorn! to the love and hate relationship everyone has with their family on Singapore Dreaming: love is indeed complicated, but beautiful.

2006

  • Tales from the Far East by Margaret Read MacDonald.
    On August 14 – 20, a string of multimedia events staged in the Washington, DC metro area with a focus on Southeast Asian children stories. Events include storytelling at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, photography exhibitions by Don Gurewitz and Iwan Bagus, book signings, and kids talent shows.

  • Third US-ASEAN Film and Photography Festival

2005

  • Second US-ASEAN Film, Video, and Photography Festival.
    Winners are awarded at a gala dinner ceremony at the Mandarin Oriental Washington, DC. The gala features a musical, “Passionate Heart,” a story about a talented dancer/choreographer from Southeast Asia studying in America.

2003

  • US-ASEAN Film, Video, and Photography Festival.
    The inaugural US-ASEAN Film Festival, held concurrently with photography and video competitions. The film festival showcases “Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?” – the teen flick that led the renaissance of the Indonesian film industry.
